전화를 올바르게 받는 훈련은 자녀들에게 꼭 필요한 것 같다. 공손하게 전화를 받는 것은 물론이다. 모르는 사람이 전화를 할 경우, 부모가 집에 없을 때, 집에 안 계시다고 말하지 않고, 지금 전화를 받을 수 없다고 메시지를 남기라고 하는 것도 한 방법이다.
전화를 받을 수 없을 때
Kevin: Hello. This is the Kim residence.
Erin: May I speak to Mr. Jason Kim, please?
Kevin: He cannot take your call at the moment.
Would you like to leave a message?
Erin: Please tell him that Erin from BoA called.
My contact number is (206)123-4567 and extension 2.
Kevin: I’ll let him know that you called.
Erin: Thank you.
Kevin: Bye.
the Kim residence: 김씨 집입니다. 한글번역으로는 이상하지만 일상에서 무리없이 쓸 수 있는 표현으로, 편지 수신란에 The Kims 김씨댁라고 쓰기도 한다.
